Cincinnati Nurse "Blessed" with a $1,000 Award from California Casualty

San Mateo, CA, August 10, 2016 … RN Lisa Rice feels blessed to be a recipient of California Casualty's $1,000 Nurses Night Out prize. "I love my job and I am so grateful to be appreciated and recognized with this award," she said.

Lisa is a cardiac device specialist at the device clinic at Mercy Health – The Heart Institute, Anderson in Cincinnati, Ohio. "This prize shows me people care and will help me be a better health care provider," she said. "It totally made my day."

Lisa said that the acknowledgement comes at the perfect time; workloads have increased at the cardiac unit where she is a manager, and she and her husband haven't had a night out together since their daughter was born 17 months ago. "I think we might hire a baby sitter and enjoy a much needed night on the town," she said.

The contest was created to thank nurses for the long hours they put in offering comfort and healing to patients and families. Winners can use the $1,000 prize any way they wish: hitting the hot spots in a rented limousine, hosting a party, or taking a relaxing day at the spa. They are only limited by their imagination.

The Ohio Nurses Association, a California Casualty partner, also provided a complimentary membership to Lisa, as well as free access to their continuing education activities and classes for a full year.

"California Casualty protects American heroes, and we want to show our appreciation to the men and women who take care of America,'" said California Casualty Sr. Vice President, Mike McCormick.

The winning has just begun; there will be two more $1,000 Nurses Night Out awards given this year by California Casualty. The entry deadline for the next drawing is September 16, 2016, with a winner announced in October. The final award will be given in December, with entries due December 9. Complete rules, information and the entry form can be found at www.NursesNight.com.

Entrants must be 18 years old. Residents of Alaska, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, New York and Wisconsin are not eligible, and winners must be currently employed as or retired as a nurse (RN or LPN) or nurse practitioner, or be a member of the Oregon Nurses Association.
