Glossary What does that mean?

  • Temporary Substitute Automobile
A non-owned auto that is used by the named insured when the covered auto is out of service due to breakdown, repair, servicing, loss or destruction.
  • Time Limit
A specified number of days in which a notice of claim or proof of a loss must be filed.
  • Total Loss (Constructive)
A constructive total loss involves property that is damaged to the extent that the cost of repairs exceeds the market value less the salvage value.
  • Towing Coverage
Pays for towing a covered motor vehicle to the nearest place of repair from the place of disablement. Also covers the cost of roadside assistance (excluding the actual parts or fuel).
  • Transportation Expense Coverage
Some policies contain transportation expense coverage as part of the basic contract. It covers temporary transportation expenses you incur when your covered auto is not available due to a loss from a covered peril. It also covers temporary transportation expenses, including loss of use expenses, you become legally liable for as the result of a loss to a non-owned auto you are operating. The loss of use coverage only applies if your covered auto has coverage for the type of loss sustained by the non-owned auto. The limits are $20 per day with a maximum of $600.
