Firefighters Encouraged to Enter California Casualty $10,000 Firehouse Makeover Contest
San Mateo, CA, March 27, 2013. . . California Casualty announced today that entries are now being accepted for its second annual Firehouse Makeover contest. The grand winner will see his or her firehouse changed from ordinary (or worse!) to extraordinary – a prize valued at approximately $10,000.
“Firefighters give so much to their communities, we want to give something back to them,” said the company’s CEO and Chairman, Beau Brown.
Entries can be made by firefighters, volunteer firefighters or members of one of 19 related professional groups (see contest terms and conditions online) at www.firehousemakeover.com. One entry per individual, but all eligible personnel at the same firehouse can enter to increase chances of winning. The last day to submit an entry is September 30, 2013. A random drawing will occur on October 1, 2013, with notification given to the finalist by mid October. The makeover timeframe will be agreed upon following notification.
A firehouse in Thomson, Georgia won the makeover last year, with renovations and redesign completed early in 2013. Firefighter Ron Cody submitted the winning entry. “Now, each time we walk through the door, it brings a smile to our faces. It looks great,” he said. The firehouse received fresh paint, new seating and dining furniture, new full-size mattresses and reconfigured sleeping quarters, flat screen televisions, washers and dryers, and kitchen appliances.
Several supporting sponsors helped achieve the dramatic changes in the Thomson firehouse. Maytag donated appliances, Sherwin-Williams provided paint, FireRescueTV donated a 42-inch flat screen as well as a subscription to its closed circuit channel and playback equipment, and EON Office managed the design and facility makeover. While sponsorships may change for each Firehouse Makeover, the end result will be of equal quality and functionality, according to the needs at the winning location.
