California Casualty to Honor Heroic Nurses, Firefighters, Educators, and Peace Officers

San Mateo, CA, September 26, 2012 -- California Casualty, a national auto and home insurance provider catering to educators, firefighters, nurses and peace officers, is launching a new Internet campaign to recognize and thank American heroes. The “Nominate a Hero” program asks community members to share how nurses, firefighters, educators, and peace officers have made a difference in their lives and communities.

“We interact with these groups every day. And we hear the stories about struggling teachers paying for resources out of their own pockets, exhausted nurses sacrificing to provide the best possible care,  selfless firefighters risking everything to protect our  lives and homes, and peace officers laying their lives on the line to protect total strangers,” says Scott Randolph, California Casualty’s Social Media Manager. “We felt compelled to pass these stories of heroism along and honor the men and women who do extraordinary things every day.”

Candidates for the Nominate a Hero program are nominated online by their family members, friends, and coworkers—and sometimes even by total strangers touched by their actions. California Casualty encourages nominations of nurses, professional and volunteer firefighters, peace officers and education professionals.

“It’s an honor to serve these heroes that give so much back to our communities,” says Randolph. “Even though we could never fully thank or repay them for their sacrifices, we wanted to create opportunities to recognize and reward their efforts and provide one hero with an amazing vacation.”

Each month, four finalists will each receive customized plaques and $50 awards. At the end of the month, the finalist who receives the most votes will be named the ‘Hero of the Month’ and awarded a $250 award and a plaque. In November 2013, the public will be asked to pick one the 12 Heroes of the Month from 2012 to win a $10,000 fantasy vacation getaway.

California Casualty created the “Nominate a Hero” contest as a platform to recognize and thank the heroes they are so honored to serve. If you know nurse, firefighter, peace officer or educator who deserves to be recognized and rewarded for the heroic impact, nominate them today at www.NominateMyHero.com.
