California Casualty Celebrates California’s 2019 Distinguished Schools

San Mateo, CA, May 6, 2019 – California Casualty congratulates the 162 middle and high schools and 18 school districts named 2019 California Distinguished Schools and Exemplary Districts. As the Presenting Sponsor, California Casualty attended the 2019 Distinguished Schools Gala held in April at Disneyland.

California Casualty Assistant Vice President Lisa Almeida greeted attendees and introduced State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond. “What a magical night it was celebrating California’s Distinguished Schools. California Casualty is honored to support, in a small way, the amazing work being done across our great state,” she said.

Superintendent Thurmond thanked California Casualty for its help. “We couldn’t provide this platform of acknowledgement without our partnership with California Casualty, a long-time sponsor of our California School Recognition Program,” he said. “Thanks to their support, we get to properly commend and celebrate our schools that are fighting for a better future for our students, closing achievement gaps, improving academic performance, and putting our students on the pathway to great success.”

Distinguished School awardees represent examples of not just teaching excellence, learning, and collaboration, but also highly successful school climate efforts ranging from real-time conflict resolution to positive behavior intervention.

This is the fifth year that California Casualty has been the Presenting Sponsor of the California School Recognition Program, which also honors the California Teachers of the Year, Classified School Employees of the year and the California Green Ribbon Schools. As the presenting sponsor, California Casualty field marketing managers help present the Distinguished School banners to schools across the state.

“We are elated to join the Department of Education, California Teachers Association and the Association of California School Administrators in congratulating all of the schools and districts being honored, especially the dedicated staff who worked so hard for this designation,” said California Casualty CEO, Beau Brown. “Their dedication and innovative leadership has helped California continue to be one of the top states preparing students for graduation, college and beyond.”

Headquartered in San Mateo, California, California Casualty provides auto and home insurance to educators, firefighters, law enforcement and nurses across the country – American heroes who enhance their communities.
