California Casualty Congratulates 2014 National Teachers Hall of Fame Inductees

 

San Mateo, California, April 1, 2014 … California Casualty, a Gold Level sponsor of the National Teachers Hall of Fame (NTHF), congratulates the 2014 inductees: Gary Koppelman, 40 year science instructor, Blissfield, Michigan; Marguerite Izzo, 26 year teacher of social studies and English Language Arts, Malverne, New York; Jan Alderson, 45 year science teacher, Overland Park, Kansas; Cindy Couchman, 23 year mathematics teacher, Buhler, Kansas and Dr. Rebecca Palacios, 34 years early child education, Corpus Christi, Texas. The inductees are being honored for their decades of service to education and for going far above and beyond the standards expected for teachers during their exceptional careers.

Gary Kopplemen was the 2013 National Shell Science Teacher award winner and prime visionary of the Blissfield Environmental Lab. Marguerite Izzo was the 2007 New York State Teacher of the Year and a 2013 Lowell Milken Center Fellow. Jan Alderson is a winner of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching, Member of the Mid America Education Hall of Fame and was a semifinalist for the National Science Teachers Association Science Teaching Award. Cynthia Couchman was the 2009 Kansas Teacher of the Year and has received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics/Science Teaching. Dr. Palacios is National Board Certified as a master teacher and introduced President Bill Clinton at the first White House reception honoring National Board Certified Teachers.

The inductees will be honored at a gala in Washington, D.C. in May. The formal induction ceremony will be held June 13th at the National Teachers Hall of Fame in Emporia, Kansas. More information about the NTHF can be found at www.nthf.org.
