California Casualty Gives $5,000 to California Teachers Association (CTA) Disaster Relief Fund

San Mateo, CA, December 29, 2020 – This month, California Casualty provided a $5,000 check to CTA’s Disaster Relief Fund.

The CTA Disaster Relief Fund is a separate, special fund for members of CTA through voluntary contributions from CTA members, and through CTA fundraising drives throughout the year. The fund, administered by CTA Member Benefits Department, is endowed to provide financial assistance to CTA members who have experienced significant losses due to natural or other disasters in California.

The Disaster Relief Fund provides four different benefits:

  • Standard Grant of up to $1,500
  • Catastrophic Damage Grant of up to $1,500
  • Temporary Displacement Grant of up to $500
  • School Site Grant of up to $500

In addition to the Coronavirus Pandemic, thousands of CTA members and their families experienced the impact of more devastating wildfires in 2020. In fact, this year over 4 million acres went up in flames, more than double the previous wildfire record. California Casualty was there to help their CTA policyholders in their moment of need. In addition the company wanted to help other members who needed support after the disasters. With that in mind, California Casualty donated $5,000 to CTA's Disaster Relief Fund.

California Casualty President and CEO, Joe Volponi, Vice President Debbie Harris and Key Account Manager to CTA, Lisa Almeida presented the contribution check to Wei Pan, CTA Controller and Vicki Rodgers, CTA Assistant Manager of Member Benefits.

Said Lisa, "We are honored to be able to show in a real way our compassion and concern for all of our CTA members who faced incredible losses due to these fires."

“Thanks to donations made, like this one from California Casualty, we are able to continue our goal of making a difference and providing relief to many CTA members who have experienced significant losses due to disasters in California. We truly appreciate our endorsed partners and their support of our Member Benefits programs,” said Vicki Rodgers, CTA Assistant Manager of Member Benefits.
