California Casualty's Work Hard/Play Hard Contest Provides California Officer Life-Changing $25,000

San Mateo, CA, March 31, 2016 … "This is like a gift from God," said Robert S. after a surprise announcement that he was the latest recipient of the California Casualty Work Hard/Play Hard contest. Robert opted for the $25,000 check instead of a new, custom Harley-Davidson® Road King. The money will help his family purchase their first home.

"My family has endured 13 moves in my 16 years with the California Highway Patrol," he said.  "We are ready to put down roots and this money is what we needed to get us over the top for our down payment."

Robert's name was picked from more than 22,000 entries from across the country. "I am a spiritual person and I honestly feel that the Lord provided for my family's needs," he said.

Robert helps train cadets at the CHP Academy. "Every day I am proud to wear the uniform knowing I am helping protect the people of California," he said. "Now that I teach at the academy, I feel like I am helping to shape the future officers who will also be trusted with that task."

The California Casualty Work Hard/Play Hard contest is a thank you to public safety heroes who work hard and risk so much to make our communities safer. "As the role of first responders has become more difficult and demanding, we want to acknowledge the important work they do," said California Casualty Sr. Vice President Mike McCormick.

"The CAHP has a very strong partnership with California Casualty. One reason is because they strive to honor public safety officers with programs like this," added Doug Villars, president of the California Association of Highway Patrolmen (CAHP).

Entries are now being accepted for California Casualty's Work Hard/Play Hard "All In" DeWALT® Sweepstakes. The grand prize is an ultimate tool kit filled with $10,000 worth of DeWALT® guaranteed tough tools. Information can be found at http://go.calcas.com/DEWALT.  The entry deadline is September 16, 2016 with a winner announced in October.
