California Casualty Salutes the Nation’s Top Educators

 

California Casualty joined the NEA Foundation in honoring the recipients of one of public education’s most prestigious awards: the 2019 California Casualty Awards for Teaching Excellence. San Mateo, CA, February 12, 2019 – California Casualty congratulates the best and brightest educators in the United States who were celebrated February 8 at the NEA Foundation’s 2019 Salute to Excellence in Education Gala in Washington, D.C. California Casualty is a sponsor of the gala.

The inspirational evening featured 46 instructors who were chosen by their peers for one of public education’s highest honors – the California Casualty Award for Teaching Excellence. The awardees were cited for their dedication to the profession, community engagement, professional development, attention to diversity and advocacy for fellow educators. California Casualty CEO, Beau Brown, helped present the awards to the deserving recipients.

Cicely Woodard, 8th grade math educator from Franklin, Tennessee, took home the top honor: the NEA Member Benefits $25,000 Award for Teaching Excellence.

“These educators are keeping the promise of public education by creating learning opportunities for their students that are relevant and rigorous. They advocate for each other, the profession, and public education,” said outgoing NEA Foundation President and CEO, Harriet Sanford.

“We deeply appreciate California Casualty’s partnership in recognizing these exemplary educators.”

California Casualty gave $500 to each Award for Teaching Excellence recipient’s school.

The gala was attended by more than 900 people who witnessed the work of the exceptional teachers who deliver on the promise of education for all of America’s students.
