California Casualty Supports Fall National "Create Real Impact" Teen Safe Driving Campaign

Impact Teen DriversSan Mateo, CA, November 25, 2015 … Students and parents have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving week as $15,000 in prizes were awarded to winners of the Create Real Impact awards. California Casualty is proud to support the contest designed to utilize peer-to-peer messages and creative expression to help stem the tide of distracted and reckless driving, the number one killer of young drivers.

Almost 1,000 entries of original artwork, creative writing, music and videos were submitted from students ages 14-22 addressing this critical teen driving danger. Winners were determined by a panel of judges and by online voting for prizes ranging from $500 to $1,500.

Grand prizes were awarded for:

  • Writing: Lindsey Gramache, Laguna Niguel, CA, for her essay, "Crossing the Line"
  • Art: Kiri Hungerford, Grand Blanc, MI
  • Video: Paige Murrell, Plainfield, IN
  • Music: Micha Edwards, Humble, TX
  • ASL: Tylia Banks, Roseville, CA

The winning entries can be viewed at www.CreateRealImpact.com.

The goal of the contest is to continue to find proactive solutions to the deadly epidemic of inattentive teen drivers and keep the Holiday season a time of joy for friends and families

"The Create Real Impact contest has been acknowledged as one of the nation's most successful creative messaging contests. The number of young people who have taken part is impressive," said Kelly Browning, Ph.D., Executive Director, Impact Teen Drivers.

Impact Teen Drivers has reached more than two million teens since 2007 and the Create Real Impact contest began in 2009. California Casualty is a founding partner of the nonprofit and continues to provide support for the contest.

The next Create Real Impact contest will begin in February 2016 with winners announced in April. Entries will be taken at www.CreateRealImpact.com.
