Join the Final Sprint for a 2016 California Casualty Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant
San Mateo, CA, December, 14, 2015 … The race is on for public high schools to secure a 2016 California Casualty Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant. The deadline to apply for up to $3,000 for their athletics programs is January 15, 2016 at www.CalCasAthleticsGrant.com.
The grant is a tribute to California Casualty Chairman Emeritus Tom Brown, who strongly believes that every student-athlete should have the opportunity to compete in physical activities that build character and confidence, traits that translate to success later in life.
A recent Public School Review article highlighted numerous sports programs that have been diminished or eliminated across the country due to budget constraints.
California Casualty is once again making $100,000 available to public high schools across the nation to purchase sporting equipment, defray travel costs or improve athlete safety. The Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant program has awarded more than $400,000 in the four years since its inception.
The 2015 Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grants helped:
- New Jersey's Kittatinny Regional High School's lacrosse team improve safety with new helmets and uniforms
- Ohio's Ansonia High School purchase safer helmets and protective pads for the football team
- California's Woodland High School buy new girls basketball team uniforms for the first time in a decade
"We are committed to public high schools and all student-athletes who want to compete and learn," said Doug Goldberg, Senior Vice President.
