GEORGIA HEROES AT THOMSON FIRE DEPARTMENT WIN GRAND PRIZE IN NATIONAL "FIREHOUSE MAKEOVER" GIVEAWAY

 

Thomson, GA, December 21, 2012 … Hard-working hometown heroes of Thomson, Georgia will get a firehouse makeover provided by California Casualty insurance.  Once complete, community will celebrate with guests from California Casualty and television's "Maytag Repairman".

Firefighter Tameka "Ron" Cody is going to be the most popular guy in Thomson, Georgia today.  His was the winning entry in the "Firehouse Makeover" contest presented by California Casualty.  Now Cody and his fellow heroes at the Thomson Fire Department will enjoy a complete overhaul of their fire house in Thomson, Georgia.  The makeover is valued at over $15,000.  Cody and his fellow firefighters found out they won at a holiday luncheon held earlier today for Thomson City employees.  Surprise, guys!  On-hand to deliver the news was Fire Chief Rick Sewell, Thomson mayor Kenneth Usry,  representatives from California Casualty, members of the City Council and just about every city employee in town.

Upon receiving the award, a grateful and surprised Mr. Cody said "I'm glad I entered the contest and that I was able to do something that benefited the City of Thomson.  We really need it".  Ron's fellow firefighters chimed in with "We are excited and ecstatic!  This makeover is very much needed."

Prizes will be provided by several supporting sponsors, including new kitchen and laundry appliances from Maytag, a fresh coat of paint inside and out from Sherwin-Williams,and a big-screen, closed circuit TV system from FireRescueTV. "
