PA Teacher Will Help More Students Create "Memories for Life" with a $2,500 Academic Award from California Casualty

San Mateo, CA, January 27, 2016 … Marina Stockdale is thrilled that she can now help more students fulfill dreams and share experiences that might shape their destiny. Marina, a talented and gifted learning support instructor at South Side Middle/High School in Hookstown, Pennsylvania, is the latest recipient of a California Casualty $2,500 Academic Award.

"Children are the best investment that we in our country can make for the future," she said. "You never know which one will discover a cure for cancer or will be the best parent."

The financial support from California Casualty means she can expose more children to performances, galleries and competitions in nearby Pittsburgh, events she says "they will remember for the rest of their lives."

While her dream was to be an actress, Marina realized she could do more good teaching theater classes. Now celebrating her 40th year in education, she also teaches English for grades 6-12.

Marina said that every dollar counts when it comes to educating our children, especially with the impact of recent budget cuts. Her school's principal estimates that she spends $1,000 of her own funds each year to provide educational opportunities for her classes. That's why the $2,500 Academic Award is so important. Marina also plans to donate some of the money to a new educational endowment fund to help other teachers at the South Side School District.

The California Casualty Academic Award was created in 2012 to ease the burden on instructors helping to purchase classroom supplies, materials and fund projects. Applications for the next Academic Award are being taken now at http://CalCasAcademicAward.com/.
